The annual release of Russian River Brewing Company’s sought-after Pliny the Younger triple India Pale Ale is upon us, though Inland Empire breweries and bars have only begun participating in the last few years.
Unfortunately, some venues have already served the elusive beverage, including The Rookery Alehouse and Grill in Pomona, which cheekily advertised its availability on Monday on its social media channels.
Downtown PUBlic in Murrieta also announced its pouring, but kept it a secret before announcing a ticket release on Monday for pours on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
The pub’s tickets are gone, but there’s a chance they won’t all be redeemed and there might be some left in the keg today. If so, anyone’s welcome to come in for a pour.
Beer Farm at the Riverside Food Lab, 3605 Market St., hosted a Russian River tap takeover Wednesday.
Grnd Sqrl, 73471 Twentynine Palms Hwy., in Twentynine Palms, is also hosting a Russian River tap takeover on Sunday.
A ticketed event will take place from noon to 2 p.m., followed by a public one from 2-4 p.m.
Tickets — available via Eventbrite — are $10 (plus a $2.51 service fee if purchased online) and include a 10-ounce pour of Pliny the Younger, and $20 (plus a $3.18 service fee if purchased online) if you also want a commemorative glass to take home.
Additional brews (including a double dry-hopped Pliny the Elder) and food will be available to purchase at the event, which will feature a DJ for entertainment.
The Beer Room in Grand Terrace also teased its upcoming participation before announcing this week that Pliny the Younger will be tapped at 5 p.m. on Monday.
In the meantime, the bar is currently pouring Russian River’s Blind Pig and has three triple IPAs in its fridge to take home or enjoy there.
The Beer Room is at 22587 Barton Rd.
One-year anniversary
Kings Meat and BBQ Supply Co. in Upland will celebrate its first anniversary from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event will feature a DJ, meat discounts, and free tacos and water.
A full bar — including a pair of Kings Brewing Co. beers — will be available from Ace’s Corner Lounge next door.
Kings is at 1386 E. Foothill Blvd., Suite J, Upland.
First anniversary celebration
The Flying Goose Bar & Grill at Whispering Lakes Golf Course, 2525 E. Riverside Dr., Ontario, is celebrating its first anniversary on Friday and Saturday.
On those days, diners can get half off a second beer.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
New in Grand Terrace
Armando’s Mexican Food has finally opened at 22421 Barton Rd., Grand Terrace.
The Mexican food restaurant replaces the former RoyalTea Boba.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
We have a date
Miguel’s Jr.’s two-fer deals on burritos and breakfast tacos is coming to an end.
Currently, guests can purchase two breakfast burritos for $4 or two burritos — chicken, beef or pork — for $12.
The deal will end Tuesday.
Sorry, we’re closed
Hawaiian restaurant Da Coconut Cafe in Temecula has closed after 13 years.
The restaurant made the announcement on social media last week.
Also, Storytellers Brewery and Meet House, 109 N. Maple St., Unit D, Corona, is closed temporarily.
The brewery promises to be back “shortlyish.”
