Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar and Capistrano Valley will open the CIF Southern California Regional for boys water polo with home matches on Tuesday.

Top-seeded Newport Harbor (30-1), the CIF-SS Open Division champion, plays host to No. 8 Mater Dei (16-14) at 5 p.m. in Division I.

The Monarchs finished as the Division 1 runner-up in the Southern Section.

No. 3 seed Corona del Mar (26-7), which fell to Newport Harbor in the Open Division final, plays host to Oaks Christian at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Sea Kings beat Oaks Christian 10-6 in the Open Division semifinals.

If Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar both win Tuesday, the schools would play Thursday in the semifinals. The match would be the 100th in the Battle of the Bay series.

In Division II, third-seeded Capistrano Valley (26-4) will play host to Oceanside in the first round Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The Cougars won the CIF-SS Division 2 title while Oceanside claimed Division 2 in San Diego.

La Jolla is seeded second in Division I after upsetting No. 3 Cathedral Catholic 13-12 for the Open Division title in San Diego.

La Jolla plays host to Loyola on Tuesday while Cathedral Catholic takes on visiting Mira Costa.
