California Botanic Garden in Claremont will host an outdoor screening of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” which was filmed among California’s redwoods, Thursday, June 12.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with pre-movie activities, including nocturnal nature trivia, origami and a costume contest with prizes for best critter costume, most original costume and best native plant-themed costume, according to the event website. The movie will begin at about 8 p.m.

California Botanic Garden will provide folding chairs, but those attending may also bring their own chairs.

Tickets are $19 for adults, $14 for seniors and students and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. For California Botanic Garden members, tickets are $14 for adults and $9 for seniors and students. Tickets are free for all children younger than 3 and for members’ children ages 3 to 12.

Every paid ticket includes popcorn with an optional native plant-infused topping, according to a news release. Non-alcoholic drinks and additional popcorn will  be available for purchase.

The June 12 screening of “E.T.” is part of Cinema Botanica, the California Botanic Garden’s nature-themed outdoor film series. Other films scheduled in the series are “Flow,” July 12, and “Giants Rising,” Aug. 7.
