THURSDAY’S TOP GAMES

BIG WEST CONFERENCE-NORTH DIVISION

Roosevelt (3-2) at Centennial (4-1), 7:30 p.m.

IE Varsity info: Centennial coach Matt Logan can became the 15th coach in state history to reach the 300-win plateau if the Huskies prevail Thursday. Dominick Catalano has thrown for 865 yards and nine touchdowns, while Malaki Davis leads the ground attack with 342 yards and eight rushing touchdowns. The Huskies are led on defense by junior safety Jaden Walk-Green (52 tackles, five interceptions) and senior edge rusher Jonathan “JD” McKinley (38 tackles, 4 1/2 sacks). Roosevelt has won three straight games, including a 35-26 win over Santiago two weeks ago. Blake Nadler has passed for 1,094 yards and 12 touchdowns, and Shawn Leon leads the Mustangs with four touchdown catches.

BIG WEST CONFERENCE-SOUTH DIVISION

Great Oak (3-2) at Corona (4-1), 7:30 p.m.

IE Varsity info: Great Oak capped the nonleague portion of its schedule last week with a 49-13 victory at Temescal Canyon. Trent Lux has passed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns, and Ryder Parks has caught 23 balls for 415 yards and five touchdowns. Ryder Smith leads the ground attack for the Wolfpack (387 yards, six touchdowns) and also anchors the defense at middle linebacker (42 tackles). Corona has won four straight, including a 28-2 victory over Bolsa Grande two weeks ago. Will Hitchcock has thrown for 959 yards and nine touchdowns, while Angel Heredia and Ryker Gazard have combined to rush for 774 yards and 12 touchdowns. Linebacker Jonathan Edgerton leads the Panthers on defense with 44 tackles.

Prediction: Great Oak

CITRUS BELT LEAGUE

Cajon (2-3) at Yucaipa (2-3), 7:30 p.m.

IE Varsity info: Cajon has dropped two straight contests, including a 36-25 loss last week at Permian (Odessa, Texas). Marcus Washington has passed for 951 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 345 yards on the ground, while Landon White has 22 receptions for 452 yards and five touchdowns. Linebacker Taylor Johnson leads the Cowboys on defense with 99 tackles. Yucaipa took a bye week following a 22-14 loss to Palm Springs. Deace Tunrer has passed for 351 yards and added 436 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. The Thunderbirds are led on defense by lineman Tyler Pyle (37 tackles).

MESQUITE LEAGUE

Big Bear (4-2) at Western Christian (5-0), 7 p.m.

IE Varsity info: Big Bear opened league play last week with a 33-27 victory at home against Whittier Christian. Mason Duprey has tossed six touchdown passes for the Bears, and Jordan Weisshart leads a deep backfield with 340 rushing yards. Linebacker Rigo Guadarrama leads the defense with 39 tackles. Western Christian capped its nonleague schedule last week with a 41-6 victory at Silver Valley. Carter Doolittle has tossed eight touchdown passes and added four scores on the ground. The Fighting Lancers also have a balanced ground attack led by Donovan Ramirez (237 yards). Linebacker Aidan Oliva leads the defense with 38 tackles and three interceptions.

Prediction: Big Bear

SUNBELT LEAGUE

Valley View (2-3) at Rancho Christian (1-4)

IE Varsity info: Valley View ended nonleague play on a high note with a 21-18 victory last week at Coachella Valley. Jesse Vega has passed for 614 yards and six touchdowns and also leads the team with 332 yards and five scores on the ground. Damien Randin has caught four touchdown passes for the Eagles. Linebacker Bronson Pulu leads the defense with 30 tackles. Rancho Christian is the league’s defending champion and will be looking to snap a two-game skid Thursday night. Jaiden Thomas has passed for 1,149 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Ryley Lander has caught 23 balls for 536 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensive end Cody Horner leads the Eagles’ defense with four sacks.
