Housing that includes support for those leaving foster care and families in crisis will be rising in Riverside.

The nonprofit Olive Crest, which works to prevent child abuse, has broken ground on the project at a church that is a partner in the initiative, a news release states.
Crest Cottages, the release states, is “a transformational approach to addressing the housing and stability needs of the region’s most vulnerable populations.”
Olive Crest is joining with the Riverside-based Crest Community Church on the project, which will be built on the church’s 1.75-acre campus. It will feature 11 homes for 16 to 24 people, the release states.
Plans also include play areas, classrooms counseling offices and a full-time on-site manager.
“Crest Cottages embodies our belief that when we surround young adults and families with stable housing, support services and a community, we create pathways out of crisis and toward lasting success,” Olive Crest CEO Donald Verleur said in the release.
Olive Crest employees will offer services such as mental health care, independent living skills and relationship guidance with help from church volunteers, the release states.
