I was very surprised when I got an email this week from frequent contributor Rod, letting me know that he spotted banners indicating a Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery is opening in Fontana.

It’s across from the Kaiser Permanente hospital there, the former Millie’s Cafe (and more recently, Chefs Country Kitchen) at 17039 Valley Blvd.

Although Marie Callender’s has had several Inland Empire restaurants over the years, the chain’s only remaining location here is at 3505 Merrill St., Riverside.

A Google Street View image shows the banners have been up since late last year.

Now open in Upland

Two Frogs Cantina is open in downtown Upland.

In addition to a full bar, Two Frogs serves a variety of dishes from Mexico and beyond, including fish and chips, tacos, burritos, burgers, fajitas and salads.

Two Frogs is at 101 N. Second Ave.

Hours are 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

New in Riverside

Yeye’s Kitchen is now open in Riverside.

The restaurant offers Mexican fare, including burritos, tortas, tacos and quesadillas, along with desserts, breakfast items and a handful of American favorites, including chicken nuggets and burgers.

The restaurant also offers stuffed baked potatoes.

Yeye’s will celebrate its grand opening from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14.

The first 100 customers will receive a free burrito.

Yeye’s Kitchen is at 18181 Van Buren Blvd., Suite 103.

Hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday.

Now in Ontario

West Coast Sourdough continues its expansion across the Inland Empire.

The sandwich, soup and salad chain recently opened a new location at 2780 E. Riverside Ave., Suite A, Ontario.

The new location joins other Inland Empire locations in Chino, Fontana and Norco.

Another location is in the works in San Bernardino.

Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.

New in Menifee

The Mat, a “laundry lounge & coffee bar,” has opened in Menifee.

Guests can sip a variety of coffee and tea drinks while waiting for their laundry to be done.

Baked goods from Nonnie’s Baked Treats are also available.

Hours for the coffee bar are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, with the laundromat open until 10 p.m.

Last wash is at 8:30 p.m.

The Mat is at 27701 Scott Road, Building D, Suite 105.

New in Ontario

Ontario Burgers is now open at 4890 South Motor Lane, Ontario.

The location has been home to a string of restaurants, including Burger King, Holiday Cafe and R Burgers.

Ontario Burgers serves a variety of American and Mexican food favorites.

Breakfast is also available, as well as happy hour from 2-5 p.m. weekdays with a choice of four items — small chili cheese fries, two tenders and fries, or four wings or nuggets and fries — for $4.99.

The restaurant is also currently offering a $10 burger box deal with a hamburger, fries and two chicken nuggets for a limited time.

Hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Chili dog deal extended

Wienerschnitzel has extended its Wednesday chili dog deal yet again.

Through the end of February, on Wednesdays, guests can purchase four chili dogs for just $4.

The chain also brought back its fish and chips and Sea Dog, in time for Lenten diners.

Sorry, we’re closed

The Moreno Valley Polly’s Pies location has closed.

The restaurant, which had previously been a Red Robin years ago, closed Feb. 2.

Remaining Inland Empire locations include Hemet and Norco.
