Cal Fire/Riverside deployed 18 fire engines, a helicopter and 90 personnel to attack the fire. That includes two hand crews.

The fire started at 8:38 p.m. at Wild Sage Lane and Oak Ridge Drive in an area south of a retail center that includes a Walmart Supercenter.

Evacuation warnings were issued, wildfire tracking service Watch Duty reported. They include areas south of the 60 Freeway, west of Redlands Boulevard, north of Alessandro Boulevard and east of Nason Street. By 10:46 p.m., all evacuation warnings had been lifted and the fire was 100% contained.

Firefighters planned to remain on scene for several hours conducting mop up.

OnScene.TV, a video news service, provided video showing that before forward progress was stopped, a family was spraying down vegetation outside their yard and Riverside County sheriff’s deputies evacuated some people.

Before forward progress was stopped, the fire had reached 9.1 acres by 9:58 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Saturday’s fire burned in the same hilly area as the Nason fire, which covered 65 acres in the area of Pettit Hill and broke out on July 4, 2024.
