Bethel Christian Schools in Riverside has its first major upgrade in more than two decades — a new playground.

The private school on Van Buren Boulevard brought the project to fruition thanks to the work of parents and the community, Principal Angela Bernal said in an email.
Parents raised about $90,000 in less than a year for the project, she said.
“We were blessed with donations from so many members of our community, as well as volunteers from the Riverside-Corona community that gave up their time for free to assist with things like demolition and prep for the new playground,” Bernal wrote. “It truly was a joy to see so many people come together to get this improvement accomplished.”
The playground will be used by Bethel elementary students.
