LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers added pitching prospects Landon Knack and Nick Frasso as well as catcher Hunter Feduccia to their 40-man roster on Tuesday.
Tuesday was the deadline to protect eligible players from next month’s Rule 5 draft by adding them to the roster. The Dodgers now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
Knack and Frasso were both part of the Double-A Tulsa pitching staff that Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman called “the deepest and most talented” group he had ever seen on one minor-league team. That group in the first half of the 2023 season also included Emmet Sheehan and Kyle Hurt, who later debuted in the major leagues as well as River Ryan and Nick Nastrini. Nastrini was traded to the Chicago White Sox at midseason as part of the deal for pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly.
A second-round draft pick out of East Tennessee State in 2020, the 26-year-old Knack was 2-0 with a 2.20 ERA for Tulsa before a midseason promotion to Triple-A where he went 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 10 starts before being shut down for the final month of the season.
Frasso was a fourth-round pick out of Loyola Marymount by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020. The Dodgers acquired him as part of the August 2022 trade that sent right-hander Mitch White to Toronto. The 25-year-old Frasso was 3-4 with a 3.91 ERA in 21 starts for Tulsa then went 1-2 with a 3.26 ERA in four Triple-A starts.
A 12th-round pick out of LSU in 2018, Feduccia has hit .264 with 40 home runs in five minor-league seasons. He spent all of 2023 with Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .279 with an .838 OPS and 11 home runs.
