
Kaden Adams passed for 267 yards and five touchdowns and added 107 yards and four touchdowns on the ground as the California School for the Deaf-Riverside football team defeated Cal Lutheran 88-58 in a CIF Southern Section 8-person Division 1 football game Friday night in Riverside.
The 88 points scored by the Cubs (9-0) is a new program record, topping the previous mark of 85 points scored against United Christian Academy last season.
Adams’ nine total touchdowns fell one shy of the program’s single-game record. Trevin Adams, Kaden’s older brother, accounted for 10 total touchdowns (six rushing, two passing and two interception returns) when CSDR defeated Faith Baptist 80-26 in the 8-person Division 1 championship game in 2022.
Gio Visco caught five passes for 136 yards and three touchdown and added 107 yards and a score on the ground. He also recorded his fifth interception of the season. Lucas Gough added a pair of scoring runs for the Cubs.
CSDR has won 18 consecutive games dating back to last season, and the Cubs also extended the program’s playoff winning streak to eight games. CSDR’s quest for a third straight section championship continues Friday when it faces Cate (9-0) in a semifinal game at Carpinteria High School.
Colton McGee passed for 349 yards and six touchdowns and also scored once on the ground to lead the way for Cal Lutheran (8-2). Aiden Boehm caught 11 passed for 197 yards and three touchdowns, and Tyler Treder had a pair of touchdown catches for the C-Hawks.

Hemet 58, Rancho Christian 19: Draven Lopez tossed three touchdown passes, ran for a touchdown and also returned an interception for a score in leading the Bulldogs to victory in a Division 8 opener. Hemet (10-1) avenged a 31-28 loss to the Eagles in Sunbelt League play from the previous week. Kee-Esoul Pitchford had a 59-yard touchdown catch and also returned an interception 98 yards for another score for the Bulldogs. Hemet will host Serrano in the quarterfinal round Friday.
Vista Murrieta 23, Villa Park 20: Gavin Facer kicked three field goals, including the game-winner in the final minute, as the Broncos rallied for a victory in Division 3 opener. Vista Murrieta trailed 20-6 entering the final quarter but scored the final 17 points of the game. The Broncos (7-4) travel to Cajon for a quarterfinal game.
Murrieta Mesa 42, Ontario Christian 0: Artyon Celestine ran for two scores as the Rams rolled to victory in a Division 6 opener. Jesse Wilhite returned an interception for a touchdown, and Derrick Hart returned the second half kickoff for another score for Murrieta Mesa. The Rams (7-4) host Northwood in the quarterfinals.
San Dimas 43, Aliso Niguel 21: Julian Vigil ran for 155 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Saints won a Division 6 opener. Nathaniel Almaraz added 128 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries for San Dimas. The Saints (9-2) host Dana Hills in the quarterfinals.
Great Oak 42, Coachella Valley 7: Ryder Smith ran for 199 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Wolfpack won a Division 9 opener. Connor Smith had an interception return for a touchdown for Great Oak, which outscored Coachella Valley 21-0 in the fourth quarter. The Wolfpack (5-6) play St. Genevieve at LA Valley College in Van Nuys in the quarterfinal round.
Chino 14, San Marcos 13: Demetrius Alloway rushed for 102 yards and scored the tying touchdown in the final minutes. Alejandro Maciel added the decisive extra point as the Cowboys won a Division 10 opener. Chino (5-6) hosts Silverado in the quarterfinals.
San Gorgonio 47, Grace 29: Daron Tyson ran for 80 yards and two scores and also caught a touchdown pass as the Spartans won their Division 11 opener. Jacob Russell passed for 198 yards and two touchdowns, while Reshawn Holmes ran for 102 yards and a score for San Gorgonio. The Spartans (8-2) travel to Grand Terrace on Friday, looking to avenge a 29-21 loss to the Titans in San Andreas League play last month.
Big Bear 45, Capistrano Valley Christian 33: Mateo Danneberg ran for 164 yards on 26 carries and scored three times as the Bears won a Division 11 opener. Brennen Berge threw a touchdown pass, ran for a score, intercepted two passes and also recovered a fumble for Big Bear. The Bears (8-2) host Baldwin Park in the quarterfinal round.
Carter 53, Trinity Classical Academy 15: Ryder Carson and Joey Martinez connected for three touchdowns as the Lions cruised to victory in a Division 12 opener. Carson passed for 163 yards, and Martinez caught six passes for 116 yards. Jordan McKinney led the ground attack with 184 yards and a touchdown, while Andre Thompson added 117 rushing yards. Noah Esquivel intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a score, and added a touchdown run for Carter. The Lions (7-3) play at Canyon Springs in the quarterfinals.
Chaffey 46, Eisenhower 16: Rayvon Adams ran for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 24 carries as the Tigers won a Division 12 opener. Carlos Vasquez and Alexis Almeida also scored two touchdowns apiece for Chaffey. The Tigers (5-5) host Palmdale in the quarterfinals.
Arrowhead Christian Academy 58, Nogales 50: Cole Fornelli threw five touchdown passes as the Eagles prevailed in a Division 13 opener. Daniel Rivera had four touchdown catches for Arrowhead Christian (5-5). The Eagles face Anaheim at Glover Stadium in Anaheim in the quarterfinal round.
