The Murrieta Public Library will be closed the first week of November to prepare for the expansion on the children’s library.
The library, located at 8 Town Square, will be closed Monday, Nov. 3 through Friday, Nov. 7. During that time, curbside pickup will be available Tuesday through Friday. Services for curbside will be limited to held-item pickups, item returns and fine payments.
The library and all services will be back to business as usual when the building reopens Saturday, Nov. 8.
The closure is necessary so the library can relocate collections, furnishings and shelving to prepare for the $8 million expansion, according to the city.
The project involves a 4,500-square-foot expansion of the Children’s Library, which will bring the entire children’s area to 7,200 square feet. The project also includes a dedicated storytime suite, an expanded floor to ease overcrowding, additional areas for learning, sensory zones, a tween space and an outdoor garden expansion, according to plans shared by the city.
Construction started in September and is expected to finish in October 2026.
