The body of Pope Francis is scheduled to be moved on Wednesday morning from the Chapel of Santa Marta to St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican said in a notification published in Italian on Tuesday.
The pope’s coffin will be transported at 9 a.m., after a moment of prayer led by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, carmerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, according to the Holy See, the Vatican’s press office.

Francis’ body will travel in a procession through Piazza Santa Marta, within Vatican City, and Piazza dei Protomartiri Romani.
The procession will then exit into St. Peter’s Square through the Arch of the Bells, before going up to and entering St. Peter’s Basilica through the central door..
“At the Altar of the Confession, the Cardinal Camerlengo will preside over the Liturgy of the Word, at the end of which the visits to the body of the Roman Pontiff will begin,” the Vatican said.
