TEMECULA — A trespassing call led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted on multiple felony warrants Monday in Temecula.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Southwest Station responded at approximately 12:59 p.m. to a call from a hotel in the 27600 block of Jefferson Avenue, west of the 15 Freeway, regarding a trespasser and upon their arrival were told by a hotel employee that a man refused to vacate his room, said Sgt. Jesse Maldonado.
Christopher Adam Williams, 38, repeatedly refused deputies’ requests to leave and instead barricaded himself in his room. Guests in neighboring rooms were vacated and a two-hour standoff ensued, Maldonado said.
Deputies from the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau deployed tear gas into the room, causing Williams to exit and deputies arrested him.
A records check revealed three outstanding felony warrants against Williams, including two for domestic violence and one for resisting arrest.
Williams was subsequently processed and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
During the operation, Overland Drive was temporarily closed from Jefferson Avenue to Ynez Road.
