The Delusion Poem By Nathaniel Restrepo

The Delusion

I see the shadow chasing me.

I see the black silhouette.

I see the knife in its hand.

I see its sharp teeth.

I see the shadow chasing me.

I see its intangible essence.

I see the sharp, dark claws.

I see its spiky hair.

I see the shadow chasing me.

But nothing is really there.

I wake up to reality.

I wake up really scared.

The Delusion Part II

As I wake up to reality,

I take a deep breath.

The sigh of relief,

The sigh of despair

As I wake up to reality,

My hands are trembling.

My mind is spinning.

My feet are shaking.

As I wake up to reality,

I take a look around.

It is all quiet.

There is nothing there.
