Strack died in April 2023 and city officials named the park, formerly called El Dorado Park, after him later that year.
Strack, who died at 53, was a firefighter for 28 years and president of the city firefighters association since 2002.
The park features a display with Strack’s photo and biographical information. It also has information about firefighting gear and decorations such as axes that adorn play structures.
The playground’s design includes splashes of red throughout as well as play structures designed to look like fire engines. It also has fitness stations.
